Red Seat Ventures, the Fox Corporation creator-led media company, announced on July 20 that its portfolio of more than 40 premium creators, spanning true crime, comedy, news, sports, and entertainment and reaching tens of millions of monthly unique consumers, is now available to buy through Amazon DSP. “Our podcast audio and video creators have built some of the most trusted communities in media,” said Jeremy Price, Red Seat Ventures’ senior vice president of sales. “It’s a new way to make creator-led media measurable, addressable and connected to real business outcomes.”
The deal gives advertisers access to RSV’s audio and video podcast inventory alongside Amazon DSP’s audience intelligence, AI-powered optimization, and privacy-enhancing measurement, plus first-party shopping, streaming, and browsing signals that Amazon layers across its omnichannel platform of streaming audio, podcasts, display, video, and streaming TV. It is the same logic already reshaping television, where Netflix has been building out its own ad business around live sports and AI tools: owned, premium content increasingly needs a programmatic front door to capture demand at scale.
Why it matters: creator-led podcasts have historically sold direct or through boutique podcast networks, outside the planning and measurement systems marketers already use for streaming and retail media. Folding RSV’s inventory into Amazon DSP means a buyer can now activate a premium podcast creator the same way they activate a CTV campaign, in the same platform, against the same audience data, rather than as a bespoke, hard-to-measure add-on.
The original angle here is the pattern, not the deal. Amazon has struck similar tie-ins with Disney, Roku, and Netflix over the past year, which makes Amazon DSP less a single ad-buying tool and more a default clearinghouse that competing media owners all plug into on Amazon’s terms. RSV built its own monetization tools first, including its Speakeasy hosting platform and its acquisition of subscription platform Supercast, then opened the tap to programmatic, the same build-then-open sequence beehiiv just followed with its own newsletter network, and one other media owners weighing when to give up direct control of their ad sales should study closely, alongside how agencies are building their own curation layers to sit on top of exactly this kind of programmatic inventory.
