Google is doubling the release pace of the Google Ads API from one release a month to two, beginning with version 26.

The change was posted on the Google Ads Developer Blog on Oct. 12, 2026 and signed by Anash P. Oommen of the Google Ads API Team. Google says the faster cadence gives developers’ “automated agents and workflows” earlier access to features that already exist in the Google Ads interface. It follows the monthly schedule the team announced on Sept. 4, 2025.

Four major releases a year remain. Every other release is a minor release that, in Google’s words, adds only “new, non-breaking features.” Each major release stays available for one year, and each minor release sunsets together with its parent major version. Oommen wrote that sunset schedules are unchanged, “so you will not need to migrate more often.”

Communication changes as well. Release blog posts and YouTube live events move to twice a quarter, each covering several releases at once. Developers who want to follow individual releases are told to save the Google Ads API release notes page, which notifies them when it changes.

Why it matters

The schedule table lists 25 versions, from v26 in October 2026 through v30.3 in December 2027, and 21 of them fall in 2027. Google marks every date as an estimate and says it may add or remove releases, or switch a release between major and minor. It may skip v26.3 and v30.3 because they land in the holiday season.

By our count, a team that tracks the API will have 21 release entries to read in 2027 against four windows for breaking changes. Migration deadlines stay where they were, so the added cost is review time. Assign one person to read each minor release when it lands and test it against a sandbox account before switching any new field on in production.
