Adform has been named one of OpenAI’s technology platform partners for the European rollout of ChatGPT Ads, giving agencies and brands in the region a way to buy the new ad format through a demand-side platform they already use rather than a standalone OpenAI interface. Volkswagen and Vodafone are already testing the format through Adform, following markets where ChatGPT Ads is live in more than 40 countries.

“The arrival of ChatGPT Ads in Europe opens an important new advertising environment for brands and agencies, and we’re pleased to have been selected as a technology partner supporting the rollout,” said Stefan Sommer, chief growth officer at Adform.

The move matters because it extends OpenAI’s ad business through existing programmatic relationships instead of forcing advertisers to build a separate buying workflow, mirroring the pattern already visible in Amazon’s own DSP integration into ChatGPT. Conversational surfaces are becoming just another line item inside the DSPs marketers already operate, not a walled garden marketers have to learn from scratch.

The original insight here is a measurement one. Vodafone’s own comment on the partnership frames the test as connecting ChatGPT Ads results to “broader campaign measurement,” which is a tell: attribution frameworks built for display and search impressions do not map cleanly onto a conversational ad unit with no click-through path in the traditional sense. The DSPs that solve conversational-ad measurement first, not the ones that simply plug into the API first, are the ones likely to control how agencies allocate budget to this format once the testing phase ends.
