Yahoo DSP launched In-Flight Outcomes in the UK and Europe on September 2, a feature that feeds live purchase and visitation data back into campaigns while they are still running, rather than waiting for a post-campaign report. The system draws on Yahoo’s own purchase and visitation data alongside an advertiser’s first-party data and measurement partners, then routes it into Yahoo Blueprint Performance, the platform’s AI optimization engine, which adjusts geography, time of day, frequency, creative and propensity to act in response.
“Advertisers are seeking greater accountability from their media investments,” said Alice Beecroft, Senior Director of Global Strategy and Partnerships at Yahoo DSP. “In-Flight Optimisation cuts down the feedback loop from weeks or months to hours.” The feature is built for use cases spanning CPG product lift, retail and QSR store visits, TV and CTV measurement, and retail media network validation, with a bespoke model built per partner rather than one shared model applied across advertisers.
Why it matters: the standard measurement complaint in programmatic has always been the lag between spending the money and knowing whether it worked, long enough that a campaign can finish before anyone learns it underperformed. Collapsing that loop to hours, if the real-world performance holds up beyond Yahoo’s own numbers, changes what “optimizing in real time” actually means in practice rather than in a sales deck.
The original insight: this is the same instinct now showing up across the attribution stack, not just at Yahoo. Snap opened its own attribution math to advertisers globally this month, and Google quietly reworked how its bidding treats budget limits. Every major platform is racing to own the feedback loop between spend and outcome, because whichever one closes that loop fastest becomes the default source of truth advertisers reach for first.
