Small business marketing tools have spent the past two years bolting AI assistants onto their own dashboards. Constant Contact took the opposite approach on September 10, 2026, launching a connector that lives inside Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant, instead of asking customers to come to Constant Contact’s own interface first.

With the connector live, a Constant Contact customer already working in Claude can describe their business, audience, and goal in a conversation and get back a finished email or social draft, complete with subject lines, preheader text, captions, and calls to action. Live desktop and mobile previews let the customer refine the draft inside the same conversation. One click hands the finished piece to Constant Contact, where the customer finalizes it and sends or publishes through Constant Contact’s own deliverability and reporting infrastructure.

“Small businesses don’t work in just one place, and their tools shouldn’t ask them to,” said Lee Ott, Head of Product and AI at Constant Contact. “Bringing Constant Contact into Claude means customers can build a complete campaign without ever leaving a conversation they’re already having, then send it through Constant Contact. We handle the deliverability, reporting and results.”

The bigger signal is where Constant Contact chose to meet its customers: not by building a better chatbot inside its own product, but by shipping into a conversation surface it does not control and letting execution stay on its own infrastructure. That mirrors the logic already showing up in ad tech’s own move into the chat window and in the shift toward buying and building directly inside AI chat interfaces. For small business marketing platforms competing for attention against far larger CRM and automation suites, distribution inside a conversation a customer is already having may matter more than owning that conversation outright.
