Meta is starting what it calls the next major pillar of its business, Meta Enterprise Platform, to help businesses use AI to grow. Mark Zuckerberg said the platform will initially bring Meta’s full technology stack to businesses and developers, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code.
Chirantan “CJ” Desai joins Meta as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, reporting directly to Zuckerberg. He comes from MongoDB, where he was CEO and President. Before that he led product and engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including as President and COO. Desai said the platform will focus on turning Meta’s AI stack into products and services that companies can deploy for their own businesses.
Why it matters
Marketing teams know Meta as a place to buy media. Meta describes itself as helping hundreds of millions of businesses reach customers, and this announcement adds a second relationship, as a supplier of agents, an API and a coding tool.
Agent launches like this one are spreading across platforms, as in YouTube Leans on AI Agents to Keep Creators Close, and the governance questions they raise are the ones we named in The MCP Rush Has a Governance Gap Nobody Is Naming.
The original insight
A company that supplies media and also supplies the agent that plans and runs the media sits in two places on a marketer’s org chart. Marketing may own the media budget while IT or procurement owns the enterprise software contract, and one vendor will now appear in both. Teams that keep those two conversations separate will negotiate them separately. Teams that join them can ask a single question of both: which actions the agent takes on its own, and where the log of those actions lives.
