Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta, the maker of voice agents and real-time coaching for contact center staff, with closing expected in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2028.

What happened

Salesforce announced the agreement on November 2. Cresta describes itself as a voice-first operating system for customer experience. Its voice agents resolve complex customer calls end to end, and the same platform coaches human representatives and analyzes every interaction. Salesforce names Marriott, Comcast and Alaska Airlines as brands that use it. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and Cresta will keep supporting the contact center and telephony platforms its customers use today.

Kishan Chetan, EVP and GM of Agentforce and Service Cloud at Salesforce, said, “Voice is where service is hardest to get right, and where it matters most to customers.” Ping Wu, CEO of Cresta, said the combination will embed “real-time conversation intelligence and agentic experiences directly into Salesforce’s first-class customer service Platform.”

Why it matters for marketers

Salesforce says customer conversations hold insights that sit in silos, apart from customer context and the tools teams use to act. For marketing teams, the stated plan is to connect each conversation to the customer record and to outcomes it names as resolution, retention and revenue. The release gives no price, no timeline for product changes and no detail on what marketing teams would receive.

The agreement follows the Braze deal by two weeks and Salesforce’s October 29 agreement to acquire Rune Technologies. A day before the Rune deal it added spend limits and a kill switch to Agent Fabric.

One practical step

In our reading, Salesforce customers who run lifecycle messaging and service on separate teams can ask their account team which call-derived fields would reach marketing audiences after closing, and under what consent terms, before they plan 2027 segments around them.
