Field marketing has lagged behind digital channels on data quality for years: a badge scanned at a conference booth typically produced a name, a company, and days of manual cleanup before it became a usable record. Popl, an in-person lead-capture platform, said July 14 it is wiring Apollo.io’s database, more than 240 million contacts and 30 million companies, directly into the engine that turns a badge scan into a complete, CRM-ready contact.

Popl already draws on more than 20 data partners and layers its own AI agents, web discovery, email prediction, real-time validation, on top to close gaps any single source leaves open. With Apollo added, the combination pushes match rates on in-person interactions above 97 percent, according to the companies, with enriched records flowing directly into Salesforce and HubSpot.

For a marketing leader running field or ABM programs, that closes a gap that has quietly undercut event reporting for years: pipeline generated at a trade show was rarely traceable back to the specific interaction that created it, because the data arrived too messy, or too late, to attribute cleanly.

The bigger signal is structural, not just faster lead capture. In-person channels have historically run on different infrastructure than digital ones, a spreadsheet export or a nightly batch job instead of the always-on enrichment that already powers web forms and paid campaigns. Wiring a data network directly into a real-time enrichment layer treats the badge scan as the same kind of event a CDP treats a web visit, something to resolve and route the moment it happens, not days later at CRM import. That is the same data-ownership question reshaping the rest of the CRM stack, now arriving at the event floor.
