Google’s Site Kit plugin for WordPress has a Site Goals feature that puts online store and lead generation results on the main dashboard, using events the plugin sets up automatically.

Google’s Site Kit documentation says Site Goals adds a dedicated widget area based on visitor actions, summarizing whether a site is driving online store sales or capturing leads. It appears once Google Analytics is connected, a supported plugin is enabled, and a purchase, add-to-cart, lead form, contact or generate-lead event is detected. Plugin conversion tracking must be on, which the documentation says is typically the default.

The Online store performance widget reports purchase and add-to-cart events from WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads. Its key action is Sales Rate, which expresses sales as a percentage of total sessions, alongside Total Sales. The Lead generation performance widget covers Contact Form 7, MailChimp, Ninja Forms, OptinMonster, Popup Maker and WPForms. Users can show up to six metric tiles, including top traffic channels, pages, countries, device types and authors driving sales or leads.

Why it matters

Small sites that never configured conversion events in Analytics get a goals view without tagging work. Detailed breakdowns by plugin or form need an Advanced data breakdown setting, and Google says historical data for those breakdowns is not available, so the reports fill in only from the day the setting is enabled.

An angle worth watching

Our read: the “authors driving sales” and “authors driving leads” panels will interest content teams, because they tie a byline to a conversion. That fits the author-accountability theme in Google’s Content Guidance Calls Fabricated Author Profiles Deception. Teams should check which events Site Kit detects against their own Analytics setup before comparing numbers, since sites using plugins outside the supported list see those events grouped under Other sources or Other form completions.
