Braze announced the Braze Data Platform (BDP) in Q1 2026, a composable data architecture designed to eliminate the middleware that sits between cloud data warehouses and real-time customer engagement. The platform positions the data warehouse as the single source of truth while Braze serves as the activation layer on top.

Three technical capabilities define the launch. A redesigned CDI UI separates source and sync configuration, enabling marketers to launch unlimited data syncs independently without engineering support. A CDI SQL Editor (in early access) allows direct SQL queries within the Braze interface, removing the need for pre-formatted tables before data can be used in campaign targeting. Zero-Copy Canvas Triggers enable experience activation using warehouse data without copying it into Braze first, reducing data duplication and latency.

The Databricks integration deepens through Delta Sharing (in beta), creating bi-directional data flow where engagement signals from Braze return to the warehouse for ML enrichment. This feedback loop means that machine learning models trained on warehouse data can incorporate real-time campaign interaction signals without manual data pipeline construction.

Lanna O’Connor, Director of Loyalty and Digital Marketing at RaceTrac, noted the operational impact: “Braze helps our team move faster and create more relevant experiences for our guests. With Databricks at the center of our data strategy, we eliminate usual limitations when speed and data complexity exceed what connected platforms handle.”

The launch positions Braze directly against CDP vendors by arguing that the engagement platform should connect to the warehouse natively rather than requiring an intermediary data layer. For organizations that have invested in Snowflake or Databricks as their data infrastructure, BDP offers activation without additional middleware cost or complexity.
