Fort Worth, US; 8 October 2026 – Shopify merchants facing the loss of Stocky now have a free alternative for managing purchase orders and receiving stock, following the launch of Stockroom by MyWorks.
Stocky’s discontinuation has left merchants looking for a way to manage everyday purchasing and receiving without taking on the cost of a broader inventory management system. More than 100 MyWorks users contacted the company about the shutdown, prompting its team to explore the available alternatives before building Stockroom.
In its first two months, Stockroom has earned Built for Shopify certification and passed one thousand installs. Its launch addresses a gap between the free tool merchants had relied on and replacement systems that MyWorks says can cost $20 – $100 a month.
Stockroom works independently of MyWorks’ other products, with MyWorks already helping tens of thousands of ecommerce businesses globally connect their stores with accounting platforms including QuickBooks and Xero. Its new purchasing and receiving features, which MyWorks says improve on the equivalent Stocky functions, will remain free. The company plans to introduce paid plans for more advanced inventory features.
MyWorks is part of saas.group, which has a portfolio of profitable SaaS businesses across Europe and the US, and this partnership has enabled the company to further develop solutions for the ecommerce businesses they serve, backed by the expert resources and strong peer network within saas.group. Founder Peter Leonard, who built the business before its acquisition, remains involved in developing its products.
Peter Leonard, Founder of MyWorks, said “Purchasing and receiving are essential parts of running a store, and merchants shouldn’t have to pay for a complex inventory system to handle them and keep their business moving. Stocky’s shutdown left a gap for merchants, and we are looking to meet that need through building Stockroom. We are committed to its core features remaining free, as we develop more advanced tools to offer alongside them.”
Steve McQueen, Manager and Co-Founder at Fountainhall Wines, said: “We’d been using Shopify’s Stocky for a number of years but always found it quite limiting. When Shopify announced they were ending support for it, we needed to find an alternative, and Stockroom has more than surpassed my expectations.
“It’s incredibly easy to use, but what has really stood out is the support. On a couple of occasions I’ve reached out with suggestions for features that would make things easier for us. Not only have I had a quick response, but the changes have actually been implemented in no time at all. That level of responsiveness is pretty amazing.
“I can’t recommend Stockroom highly enough. It’s made managing our stock and purchasing much easier, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to Stocky.”
