Semrush has launched an official native connector for Anthropic’s Claude, putting the company’s marketing intelligence dataset, 28.8 billion keywords, 43 trillion backlinks, and 317 million tracked LLM prompts, directly inside Claude conversations. The connector went live August 26, 2026 for Semrush One and SEO Classic subscribers, and it is Semrush’s third integration with a major large language model this year, following earlier connectors for other AI assistants.

The move matters because it removes the last manual step between a marketing team’s data and the AI tool doing the analysis. Instead of exporting a keyword report to a spreadsheet and pasting it into a chat window, a marketer can now ask Claude to run a competitor gap analysis, audit a backlink profile, or scope a keyword strategy in a single prompt, with the underlying data pulled live rather than summarized from memory. “Today’s marketers are operating with fewer resources and higher expectations on ROI, so access to trusted data and automation is key,” said Vitalii Obischenko, VP of Software Development at Semrush.

The original insight here is less about Semrush and more about what it signals for the rest of the AI-agent tooling race now running across ad tech and martech: data vendors are racing to become the connector, not just the dataset, because whichever platform sits closest to where the agent actually works captures the daily habit. A marketer who starts running competitor research inside Claude has little reason to also open Semrush’s own dashboard for the same task, which quietly shifts where the analysis, and the vendor relationship, actually lives. Semrush’s answer is to make sure it is available wherever that habit forms, even inside a competitor’s chat interface, following the same logic already reshaping how ad tech is wiring itself into ChatGPT.
